60 bloggers, online marketers and social media experts share their Number 1 Growth Hacking Tip

A writer needs a reader.

A blogger needs an audience.

Often, we have wonderful things to say about our chosen topic, but our audience is small. It can be disheartening to write fascinating articles and posts, only to have them overlooked.

A clever writer needs to also be a clever marketer. It’s not enough to write the words for your posts – you must sell them to others.

Note: We provide Roundup Post Creation Service – So, if you wish to host such roundups in your blog, let us know.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that money changes hands, of course. (Although if you do well marketing, money will eventually start changing hands in some fashion).

What the savvy blogger needs is to market themselves and their message.

You need to let the world know that you’re here, you’re saying important things, and that they should be hanging on your every word.

Of course, if marketing your blog was simple, there would be no need to learn from the experts. But even if you already have a solid grasp on self-promotion, it’s worth it to see what others have to say on the subject.

It’s quite possible that you have one area of marketing and growth perfected. But what about the other areas you haven’t explored? Do you even know the full opportunities there are for hacking growth and finding market share in the industry? If you haven’t had a chance to see what’s out there, it’s impossible to say that you’re an expert across the full field.

In fact, it’s probably impossible to ever truly be an expert in marketing and growing audiences online simply because there are always changes.

There is always a new hack.

There is always a new area of the internet to explore.

You want to “growth hack,” then build a reputation for genuinely caring, add value with your content and connection, and the growth will come. A Brand is what you do… a Reputation is what people Remember and Share.

In today’s digital world it’s all too easy for us as brands and individuals to let our relationship-building muscles atrophy. We get caught up in a multitasking whirlwind of emails, social updates and text messages where it’s easy to let a connection or a conversation fall through the cracks. We’re super-connected, yet somehow disconnected at the same time. This puts us at risk of losing the very relationships that help us prosper as companies and people.

It is time to rebuild our one-on-one communication skills and muscles that we’ve forgotten in our rush to new technologies. These skills scale via social because most participate vicariously via the few who interact publicly.

You want to “growth hack,” then build a reputation for genuinely caring, add value with your content and connection, and the growth will come. A Brand is what you do… a Reputation is what people Remember and Share.

Relationships are like muscle tissue… the more they are engaged, the stronger and more valuable they become.

Influencer Quotes

Influencer Quotes

The best way to expand your audience is to leverage the power of influencers in your niche.

An easy way to do this in the context of content marketing is by quoting influencers within your content.

These influencers don’t have to have a larger audience. In some cases micro or macro influencers can be the most helpful at spreading your content.

This is a common tactic and most marketers don’t go beyond asking for a quote, then asking the influencer to share when it’s live. However, you can get a lot more mileage from this content and those influencer relationships.

The next step is to repurpose your content (and the content contributed by influencers) into an infographic. Then, offer that infographic to an influential site in your niche on an exclusive basis. Co-brand it with both of your logos and give them incentive to promote it heavily. You could also offer to write the post for their site which the infographic is featured in. And make sure you get a credit link back to the original article it’s based on.

You could completely take design costs out of the equation by partnering with a graphic design company and including them in the co-branding & offering them a link.

Once the infographic is published, you can then reach out to all of those influencers, tag them on social media, and encourage them to share.

What kind of results can this strategy yield? That depends. The last time I tried this, the repurposed infographic alone received an extra 30,000 visitors and an extra 2,500 social shares.

This is a win-win for everyone involved in the process. It makes all of that content you’ve curated from influencers (or created yourself) go a lot further. You’ll see more engagement on social media, more traffic, and overall you’ll get far better results than an average blog post.

Testimonials are gold

Testimonials are gold

Most websites have a page just for testimonials. It’s a great place for people to go to if they aren’t sure whether to trust your product or your work. But it doesn’t help sell your product or service to the other 97.3% of potential buyers. That is a huge missed opportunity.

I place relevant testimonials on each service page, so that as people are reading or scrolling down the page, they can see how satisfied our customers are. That is a powerful sales tool.

Yes, I also have a testimonials page, for two reasons. First, some people look for the testimonials page before landing on a sales page – for instance, if they land on the home page or a blog post.

Second, some people want to read more than what I can conveniently fit on a sales page. I link to the testimonials page from each sales page. For instance, just before the testimonials on my screenwriter page, you will find this text:

“Our clients have a few nice things to say about the plays, TV scripts, video scripts and movie screenplays and the ghostwriters who helped write them. (Read more testimonials here.)”

Believe it or not, prospects have come to me citing a testimonial they had read on a sales page as a reason they reached out. It’s a small thing, but it was well worth doing.

Leverage

Leverage

Building a huge and dedicated following on every social network is difficult. On the top tier of social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube, TicTok, Instagram – building a following is an accepted practice. But there are networks out there that can send even more traffic like Reddit, or niche networks like GoodReads or perhaps FlipBoard and Pinterest. This list can go on for several pages – how can some one build a reach on all of these networks?

This is where social media growth hacking comes into play. You need to leverage other people’s network, their following, their social media timelines to promote your content, product and business.

Hows this possible? Why would they allow?

The answer to that is – they too are looking for sharing their content. If you share their content on your timelines – where ever you are active and have a following – they will promote your content with equal pace.

This is where GuestCrew comes into play. We are your social media content amplification network. Share other people’s content, they will share your content in return.

Transcribe

Transcribe

The key here is to separate out your content creation from your content distribution.  I create a ton of videos on my phone or laptop, which all go to one place.  Then our VAs pick up this content and turn it into hundreds of blog posts and one minute videos.

Every single webinar, every single client call, every single podcast, every little moment I have a thought to share on my iPhone 13 Pro Max– it goes into the Content Factory for processing.

That way, I don’t have to get involved in the processing myself, which literally saves me 95% of the time.  Thus, I get a 20X multiplier on my time.

All my content being posted on my blog, guest blogs, and social sites is literally me– not ghostwritten content.  So it performs better than some weak stuff that my audience will instantly spot as phony.

Making video is key, too– since you can create images and text, too.  Thus, a 3 for one deal.

Pretty awesome, huh?

Update Content

Update Content

One of the best blogging growth hacking tips I can give is to update your old content each month. This ensures that your readers always have fresh, relevant information to read, and it also helps boost your search engine rankings.

Simply go through your blog archive and find a few older posts that you can update with new information, links, or images. You’ll be surprised at how much this simple task can help grow your blog!

Look for blog posts that can be updated with new information. This is easier to spot when you have dates in your blog posts. Anything that is outdated should be updated more frequently.

Then, look for topics that are of interest today that you had written about in the past. While you are updating the text, also add video and include some fresh images to really give the updated content a major boost.

However, don’t be afraid to change your title and meta description as well. You can do a new SEO audit of the keywords and see what the competition has been up to for it as well.

silver bullet

silver bullet

There’s no one silver bullet when it comes to growth hacking, but if I had to narrow it down to one tip, it would be this: always be testing and experimenting with new approaches.

The world of online marketing is constantly evolving, and what works today may not work tomorrow. That’s why it’s so important to always be testing new strategies, tactics, and ideas. You never know which ones might suddenly take off and help you achieve explosive growth.

Try new things, track your results, and see what works best for your business.

It’s the only way to stay ahead of the curve and keep your growth hacking efforts moving in the right direction.
An example of testing and experimenting would be using different headlines on blog posts to see which ones generate more clicks. You can also experiment with different call-to-action buttons on your website, or try out new marketing channels to see if they generate more leads.

Some other examples of testing and experimenting for growth hacking include:

  • Testing different pricing models to see which one generates more sales
  • Testing different email subject lines to see which ones get more opens
  • Testing different ads targeting different audiences
  • Testing different content formats (e.g. video vs. text, long-form vs. short form, etc.)

The key is to always be trying new things and tracking the results so you can see what works best for your business.

Be patient. Do not try to sell something. Observe the audience you want to reach. Find out what this audience needs and create good content. Test it and be on different platforms—post quotes and images. Experiment to find out what works best. Create short videos linking to the content and engage with the people. Always write as if you were talking to a friend. Create free e-books from the best-liked content and collect subscribers.

Write emails and bond with your audience. Talk to your audience through video. Be authentic and creative. Let the people feel when you promote courses and books you created from the passion for serving your audience.

Learn and Master SEO

Learn and Master SEO

My Number 1 growth-hacking tip depends on what you are trying to grow. If you are trying to grow your traffic, you definitely need to learn, master, and apply SEO best practices.

Use a reliable keyword tool. The accuracy of these metrics is so vital to growing your traffic, it is worth paying for a premium keyword tool. Although Ahrefs is pricey, you get many other helpful SEO tools in addition to the Keyword Explorer.

The keyword research tool ensures there is enough monthly search volume to make it worth your while to produce the content. Once you find your keyword, optimize your post with it. Put the word in your headline, the image’s Alt Text, at least one subhead, and sprinkled throughout the post. Follow these SEO best practices and you can generate traffic from Google for years to come.

Add Oil to Fire

Add Oil to Fire

My #1 tip to grow a blog: “Pour oil into fire”. The concept is simple: Double down on what’s working for you (and stay away from what’s not).

For example – if you currently own a blog, working on your existing content offers great growth potential.  Pick the segments that offer the best potential and work towards making more significant progress in those areas.

One way to do so is by looking at your Analytics and look for the posts that are lodging longer than average time on-page. These are the contents you know have some level of interest from your readers. From there, it’s simply a matter of investing in improving or extending that content for better traffic. Depending on the current level of interest and some keyword research, you may prefer to extend the topic via additional content pieces rather than extensions.

Another example is to discover which traffic sources show the highest subscriber conversion potential. Advertising on those platforms can significantly increase traffic since you already know the visitor pool on those platforms shows good potential.

just provide value

just provide value

There are many ways to grow your audience but the best tip I have is to provide value to others. It doesn’t matter if you are a blogger, a business owner, or someone else. IF you provide value, others will talk about you. That’s the best type of marketing there is! When people talk about you in a positive manner, the people listening will be impressed. They will also be curious about who you are. They will look you up. They will follow you. They will subscribe or sign up to whatever it is you have (an email list, a YouTube channel, etc.). They will share your stuff. They will help you grow!

The best part is that everyone you attract will be GENUINELY interested. These people are what are known as ORGANIC followers who will give you, your site, and your channel ORGANIC traffic. That is what every blogger wants—more traffic! More traffic leads to more sales. More sales lead to more money. More money leads to more success.

The recipe is simple: JUST PROVIDE VALUE—ALWAYS. I do!

get featured

get featured

I will share my top two tips for growing your site fast.
1. Write high-quality, in-depth content that helps your readers solve their most burning issues. Get to know your audience and what are they searching for. Once you choose a topic, research everything you can find about it to make sure you will provide accurate and practical information that can be effectively applied.
2. Focus on SEO, especially on link building. Use tools like HARO, Qwoted, and SourceBottle.com to get featured in media publications. Contribute to expert roundups, search for opportunities to be invited to podcasts or any other type of interviews.
Build relationships with other bloggers and influencers, guest post on relevant sites from your niche. Pay as much attention to the guest posts that you are writing as to your own blog posts. If you write poor content for guest posts, the owner of the other site may change his mind and not publish your article.

Short videos are working really well right now because of the recent shift in consumer attention towards Tiktok and IG Reels. This is great news for bloggers because you can easily re-purpose your blog content into many short videos and redistribute it into multiple social media platforms to get more organic reach. Notably, Instagram is leaning very heavily on reels now, allowing users to get a burst of organic growth if they choose to focus on short videos.

Socially Engage

Socially Engage

Any small business wanting to grow their marketplace needs to guarantee getting like-minded and interested customers from day one.

There are so many ways of getting clicks, visits and high traffic growth to your website or blog. However, the majority of these are empty stats, visitors who have landed there via an algorithm who is merely responding to a certain keyword or demographic.

This is usually via SEO, PPC advertising and other expensive marketing tactics. You don’t want to waste your time and money getting people who aren’t interested or have been directed there my mistake, as is the result of so many automated systems.

What is needed is effort and hard-graft from human activity. Forget automation, algorithms and other robotic activity. You may think this saves you time, but it won’t bring in suitable results through a spray and pray approach. You run the risk of being seen as a nuisance or spammer.

The human approach is to visit relevant blogs and other social forums related to your business. Places where your ideal customers are congregating. Do some social listening, watching in the shadows while listening, reading and understanding what your customers are saying or doing.

This will give you a really good grounding in what your customers want, are interested in, what their problems are, and so forth. Once you’ve gathered enough information, then you can gently enter into their conversations by talking to these people to find out more with well placed questions. This is NOT an opportunity to promote your business or product.

The idea of conversing with these potential customers, through commenting, conversation, engagement and interaction, is to gain a relationship with them. They need to get to know you as a human as much as you need to gain knowledge about them. Your business needs to show its human side, so that customers are able to relate to what you can offer them.

You need to maintain this relationship with them via social channels. Eventually over time you can introduce the concepts of your business, brand, products and services. People will respond much more favourably if they know, like and trust whoever is talking to them. This is why you need to approach them gently, in their favour and mindset, first before promoting anything.

The trouble with this tactic is that it takes time, effort and personnel. It cannot be automated. Commenting bots do not have the same effect, as they will just spray and pray a message without responding to any answers, questions or other methods of communication.

If you want to be successful from day one, forget automation. Get off your backside and actually start talking to potential customers. Network like crazy to find out more about them. This won’t bring in instant profits, but it will save you from wasting a huge amount of money on digital marketing efforts which only result in useless, empty stats, and ultimately little sales in the long run.

The most effective blog growth-hacking strategy we’ve utilized optimizing posts with schema markup. Markup provides essential context to Google and other search engines, which often results to increased rankings and traffic.

For example, Anvil’s SEO team optimized the page below to rank for augmented reality marketing months ago, and it quickly ranked and drove volumes of traffic for a month or two:

What is augmented reality marketing?

An editor at The Economist soon reached out to us as a source for a story, as our blog post ranked #1 for related searches (it’s since decreased with a recent Google algo update). The resulting coverage can be seen here:

Follow your curiosity

Follow your curiosity

This formula has worked for me for over a decade — it just took a long time to realize it was happening! Often, a question would pop into my head, and I couldn’t really find a great answer online. That was a sign for me to do the research, scratch my own itch, and create that resource. Because if it was something I was curious about, other people probably were, too.

One example was I got recruited for a paid focus group in San Francisco. I ended up earning around $175 for this 2-hour session, and had a lot of fun with the moderators and other participants. I was curious — could I do more of these? Could I do them remotely? When I got home, I ended up researching and publishing this list of paid market research companies, which has become one of my highest-performing posts.

What’s helped even more lately is to combine that natural curiosity with some keyword research, at least to find out which variation of the keyword is best to target in terms of search volume and competitiveness.

Unreasonably Well

Unreasonably Well

My number #1 growth hacking tip is to focus on content on your blog that does unreasonably well.

What do I mean?
I mean that whenever you publish a bunch of articles on a blog, some will fall flat on their face and will be nowhere to be found in Google; most will do decently but nothing to write home about; and some will perform unreasonably well skyrocketing in the rankings for the main keyword and picking up hundreds of related kw’s.
You want to focus on those to grow fast.
Why?

Because Google is showing you they like your site for the topic and your job is to double down on those topics with better content, regular updates, massive internal linking and persistent backlinking.
Do all of the above mentioned, work together with Google and rank fast instead of going at it at snail’s pace.

For example, my Quillbot review is a 3 weeks old article. And take a look at how much traffic I have and how many keywords I rank for with my 3-week old article.

Any company that wants to grow traffic organically needs to invest in a serious SEO strategy. There are plenty of things that will drive short-term organic traffic. However, if you want serious growth to at least 100k+ visitors per month, a consistent SEO strategy is the most practical and sustainable approach. Keep creating high volumes of articles and pages across the different stages of the funnel. The hack here is to build processes that allow you to churn out large volumes of top-notch content every month. Build that process and you are set!

Use sites like Quora

On-Page SEO is necessary to grow your blog to get organic traffic. Besides this, you may use Quora and other question-answer forums/sites to boost your blog. Though the list includes some more mediums to grow your blog, my #1 Growth Hacking tip is solving queries of my audience on Quora.

Quora is a free platform to expand your reach to the target audience. Every day, lots of people search to get an answer to their queries. You need to focus on your niche and answer the related queries. It not only brings you the traffic but also a loyal audience that always requests you to answer their questions.

Please note that do not spam your answer by giving irrelevant and unnecessary links. Always provide value to your audience by solving their queries without personal interest. It will increase their trust in you, and they’ll automatically subscribe to your blog and boost your conversions.

If you want to start a blog, I’ll recommend using such forums or sites to boost the web traffic.

Quick Tip: Always use a small sentence like – “if you have any queries, feel free to contact me”. This will boost your credibility and engagement.

Outsourcing

The best growth hack is to remove yourself from the tasks you procrastinate over. If there’s one thing that helped me scale any of my businesses, it’s outsourcing what I hate and what wasn’t worth my time to someone who can do it better than me and for cheap. Is your blog post being held back from being published because it needs proofreading? Then get an editor. Need help with social media graphics to promote your content because you can’t be bothered to create the design on canva? Get a cheap designer. The point is, as humans we can be the main hinderance for our business’s growth, so finding someone who can do the stuff you tend to procrastinate over or isn’t worth your time is the best thing you can do to grow your business.

Giving away free resources

Giving away free resources

Giving away free resources in an eBook format within specific blog posts has been my most successful growth hacking tip to increase traffic and generate more email subscribers. I learned this from Brian Dean of Backlinko with the content upgrades techniques.
The idea is simple but worked great if your content is of high quality.
My number one priority is building my email list as fast as possible. So, I usually experiment with lots of techniques and strategies. From all that I have tried and tested; the content upgrades strategy works best. I don’t do this for all the blog posts, only the ones that are already getting decent traffic and engagement.
Within the post, I offer more resource material in a downloadable format that makes the content better and provides additional help for readers. This simple strategy has helped increase traffic and email subscribers. I tried it on this post, it has brought in over a hundred email subscribers within the first month of publication.
In addition, I make longer posts (4,000 words and above) available for download to save time reading. As a reader, if you don’t have the time to read the whole content on the blog, I give you the option to download it by subscribing to a mailing list.
It’s simple but it worked.

1. Easy navigation

Search engines and audiences appreciate blogs with easy navigation and easy-to-read content.

The readers, mainly first-time ones, quickly need to understand what your blog offers. It can be challenging as you consistently produce content, and you may get confused about what to present and what not to. The ideal way to offer important content to your audience is by categorizing it throughout the blog. You don’t want to place a handful of stuff on your menu, making it hard for readers to choose specific. Ensure to present meaningful and significant content for your users to navigate.

You can even offer a search system so that people can’t miss out on what they came looking for.

Encourage readers to move around your blog by suggesting relevant content via “related posts,” “popular posts,” or “read more” sections. Or even better, adopt and implement the right Interlinking strategy. In that way, you will make the reader stay for a long while on your blog, improving your bounce rate and maximizing the chance of conversion rate.

While you do so, don’t try to reinvent the wheel by going creative and intensely. Instead, create a structure that’s already working and can add value to your readers, and focus on offering simplicity and clarity that makes sense to your audience.

2. Readability

It would be best to optimize your blog for mobile readers to delight them. Besides, search engines like Google judge mobile experience as an SEO ranking factor, so you must make your blog mobile-friendly.

While you may want a slick blog with advanced trends, you don’t want the design to distract readers from the actual message. So consider having one or two colors throughout the blog and accessible functional elements.

Make your content scannable. Use subheadings and lists, highlight vital information, add quality free stock images where necessary, use Table of Contents in your blog content, and go easy on font style and size. Create shorter sentences and paragraphs, making it easier for the audience to skim and scan.

Here I conclude that bloggers must consider implementing a great blog structure and easy readability to stay ahead of the competition. They not only help you from an SEO point of view but also save resources, achieving brand authority and conversions.

Always repurpose your content, especially if you’re a bootstrapped company or running lean on cash. When you create a blog post, make sure it’s skyscraper content that’s over 1800 words. Then, take that content and break it up into YouTube and Tiktok videos. By doing this, you get several piece of original content for the price of one blog post. You’ll also generate multiple income streams while spending on only one customer acquisition channel. Repurposing your content is one of the best ways to replicate great content without breaking the bank.

planned content strategy

planned content strategy

Building a proper content strategy could be an ultimate growth hack to make your blogging business successful.

Whether you’re a blogger or primarily produce other types of content such as videos, podcasts, and so on – it’s crucial to have a coherent and consistent content strategy.

It includes a variety of activities and disciplines including information architecture, content planning, collaboration with other project participants, user experience design, production, and governance.

It can be considered as a road map of your content production and will help you build a stronger brand identity.

The end goal should always be that your site is providing only the best, most relevant content to your readers, and if you have one of these systems in place it’ll be much easier to spot holes in the content and fix them. A good structure will also make it easier to work on your site over time, as you can be sure that every page has a clear and relevant purpose.

Moreover, your content strategy is directly related to your SEO strategy. If you have content that has a high level of quality and is consistent, then you’ll naturally rank well in the search engines for keywords that your target market uses.

Without a content strategy, you’ll likely have trouble managing the growth of your website from content and design perspectives. You’ll also likely have problems planning for future content, as well as keeping existing content fresh.

So, instead of getting lost in a maze of social platforms and services, having a well-thought-out plan and strategy to promote your business will allow you to be seen, heard, and noticed by your targeted audience.

Leverage Youtube

Leverage Youtube

Leverage Youtube to build your brand and create trust. Cross linking between Youtube and your site also builds a powerful link to boost your rankings. Researchers found that sites convert 5x more frequently when they show a video. Embedding this video from your Youtube channel creates a link in the process to Youtube. Google likes when sites reference Youtube or any Google property. You can use the video’s description to link to your site as well. Remember in order to make the description link work you must use the full URL including the http:// or https:// Often I recommend linking to where you embed the video on your site, your contact page and your site’s home page. Links help with your Google rankings.

However, it isn’t only about getting a link. Youtube itself is a powerful platform where you can build authority with your customer base. Post videos regularly and on a schedule. It is better to post once a week rather than many videos in a short period then nothing for a while. Consistency is the key. Create videos about what you or your business knows best. Just because it is business focused doesn’t mean it can’t be interesting. If you are a roofer for example, show the process and the challenges. People will take interest and respect you as an authority. Think of your comment section as a means of warming up prospects and building a rapport with your clients. Video and SEO can work hand and hand to build your business’s success.

People first – metrics second

We can sometimes get carried away with the numbers. But you have to remember that every visit, impression, engagement, and conversion is a real person. People first, metrics second. Pay attention to how they behave and continually improve to give them what they want. Conduct surveys, run tests, analyse the data, and ACT on it.

Reach Potential Customers

Reach Potential Customers

In the early days of SEO all we ever used to do was tap into the top high commercial intent type of keywords with a website.
Don’t get me wrong… we still do this, however with this strategy you are always going to limit your growth by the ceiling of the “ready to buy” market.
In order to really accelerate your growth you’ve got to cast the net wider.
We do this for our clients by tapping into all 5 stages of the customer journey. Especially the literally limitless potential of the “Discovery Phase”.
This phase is where consumers aren’t aware of your product/service/solution you provide, however discover you by way of association with something else they are interested in.
This allows you to accelerate your growth in 2 ways:
1) Bust through the limitations of available high commercial intent traffic
2) Get your brand in front of new customers that otherwise never even know you existed.
Here’s 3 examples of how this works in real life:
i) A company selling weed killer can produce content around the best types of turfs to choose when doing up your back yard, then associate the right weed killer for each type of grass. Allowing the company to tap into a new market that doesn’t even face weed problems yet, but will one day.
ii) A website company could produces guides on how to register a domain name without getting ripped off or locked in by greedy web firms. This allows the web firm to get in front of potential customers that will need a website down the track.
iii) A home builder could produce content around how to save up for a home. While the target market isn’t in a position to build a home now, this savings plan will help them get there and puts the homebuilder as the trusted advisor right in front of this market before the competition reaches them.

Guest Post

Guest Post

Guest posting got defamed when a few years ago, Google’s Matt Cutts took a stance against it stating websites that engage in guest posting should stop it. This statement should be taken with a grain of salt. It’s valid if you’re engaging in low-quality guest post writing, and paying webmasters to get ‘link placements.’
However, beyond that, it’s alive and kicking. I used guest posting on authoritative websites (writing valuable content that genuinely helped readers) and earned backlinks through organic placements inside the content. It helped to scale my DR from 0 to over 50. And let it rank for many organic keywords.
I know many other B2B businesses and even link building agencies who rely on guest blogging to build backlinks and it works like a charm. So as long as you’re adding value with the content you write and mixing it up with other kinds of links, guest posting still delivers results.

Leverage

Leverage

I’ve grown followings in the past rather rapidly by reaching out to other people and doing them a small favour or mentioning them and they have in return shared my information with their network – either personally or on social media.  Once time I had this happen with someone who had a following of  500,000+ followers and launched a website and facebook page (some time ago) and had a thriving audience within a day.

Ultimately, networking in general and using the tip above is very powerful. I grew my freelancing business back in the day by entering certain networks of people, sharing my skills and word of mouth took over from there.  Let other people spread the word to their networks!

This outreach post is a perfect example of that in action.

Recycle

Recycle

More than likely you have spent a good amount of time creating content for your website. I see most bloggers miss out on an easy opportunity to continuously promote their content on social media. Instead, the majority share their content on social media right after the blog post has been published and then never share it again.
This is a huge mistake when it comes to evergreen blog content.
Instead, you should use a social media scheduling tool like Bulkly that will automatically recycle your social media updates for you. While you might not want to share the exact same update too frequently, tools like Bulkly can also create social media updates automatically from your blog post URL as well as set limits on how often to share the same update again on your social media accounts.
And once you set up these updates to recycle, there’s nothing else you need to do. Your content will get extended life across your social media accounts, ultimately driving continued traffic to your content.

Reverse engineering the competition

You don’t want to reinvent the wheel. What you want to do is first understand what’s working and what’s not working in your industry. Don’t be scared by competitors. Having competition is great because it shows that you know your market and that other businesses and entrepreneurs are interested in this market. What you want to do is thoroughly analyze what your competitors are doing in product development and with their marketing strategies so you can reverse engineer what’s working for them. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t want to copy what they are doing. What you want to do is learn from them, get inspired by what they’re doing and add your ideas to come up with a plan of action that is much better, not just a little bit better.

SEO is the best growth hack because it’s a proven strategy that will grow your blog and has long-term effects. It takes time and effort, but with SEO, you can see results over time with higher Google rankings and targeted traffic.

Create resources

Create resources

If you really want to grow your blog, you need to provide value. And I don’t just mean by providing an answer to a question.

You need to go one step further and be the best blog post on page 1 for that particular topic. There are blogs that I go back to all the time because I know how much effort they put into every blog post they create, so I know it’s going to be good. There are so many ways to add value to your blog.

You could create downloadable resources such as templates and checklists to help users get started or to share with family, friends or colleagues. You could also create videos or short podcasts for users that prefer that type of content as opposed to reading. You could also ask for expert inputs on your posts, that prove credibility to your users.

Customers buy based on emotion, not just logic. Service industry businesses especially need to build relationships with buyers.   For them to convert from ‘chance blog or website visitors‘ to loyal buyers, it is imperative we reach out routinely to move them up the Know-Like-Trust ladder.   Each level pushes an emotional button.  That means we need to constantly post a lead generation ‘freebie’ of value to small business owners, a newsletter article, email or blog post.  Building strong and loyal relationships takes strategies and implementation to achieve results.

Realistic Expectations

Realistic Expectations

By far the best growth hacking tip I can offer isn’t really about employing a clever marketing tactic. Rather, my advice is to create simple habits in your day-to-day life that sets yourself up for success with your blog. A real example of this in my own life, is that I create regular, recurring blocks of time on my calendar to spend on key activities like writing, researching, publishing, outreach and promoting my blog content. Here’s why that’s so important – if you don’t physically block off at least a few hours to work on your blog each week (around all your other responsibilities), you won’t make progress quickly enough to stay engaged over the long-term.

Blogging has been a very profitable venture for me. This line of business has given me the opportunity to work from the comfort of my home, impact lives and make valuable connections.  One of my biggest growth secrets is building valuable relationships. When I started out as a blogger,  I was a lone ranger, lost and trying to figure out everything by myself. Needless to say, those days were filled with countless hits and misses. My epiphany moment started when I started to identify and join Blogging communities online. These bloggers who were on the same journey with me helped fasten my own growth. You know what they say  “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together”. This remains my biggest growth hack and my constant advice to anyone who is just starting out. The truth is, no matter how hard you try you cannot figure everything out by yourself. You need people around you to share experiences with, to support you and also encourage you. Also, make a practice of improving yourself daily, take courses, join training, attend seminars and workshops, keep up with trends and updates because these things keep changing everyday. I hope this helps someone.

Write in-depth about a topic over many pages and interlink them creating a cluster of pages all about the same subject. Use one page as the heading article and write an overview of the subject, from this page link to all the other pages in a table of contents format.
All the search engines need to understand what a page is about and topic clustering is a good way to keep related pages stitched together. It’s also great for readers as they will find it easy to navigate around the subject.

Posting Schedule

Posting Schedule

Before you even start posting, decide what you can realistically do for a posting schedule while still producing high quality content. More content is better but not if it’s sporadically published or low quality. If you decide that you can realistically post once a week while maintaining high quality, stick to that schedule on the same day of the week if at all possible.
The more active I am with blog posting, the more traffic I get. A schedule will start to get you in the habit of posting regularly. Once you build that muscle memory of consistent blog posting, it will start to come naturally. As long as you’re doing good research for topics to write about and use catchy headlines, your content will start ranking, and you’ll also get shares on social media. Consistency is important as long as the content and the topic are right. They’re all pieces of a puzzle that are needed for a complete blogging strategy. No single item is king, and you can’t look at any single piece of your strategy as isolated from the rest of your strategy.

Create content with a purpose

As the number of companies opting for the remote business model increases, the importance of building brand awareness through digital content has never been more significant. However, writing blogs just to post content isn’t going to drive the traffic you need for growth.

Instead, offer useful, unbiased information to educate your readers and prospects. By creating content with a purpose, you’ll be seen as an industry expert and generate more opportunities for conversions.

Get started by asking yourself the following questions:

  • Who is my target audience/buyer persona?
  • Is the topic relevant to my business and consumer needs?
  • Is my content easy to read, interesting and educational?

Remember, great content deserves an audience, so don’t forget to promote it!

I have a blog post on my website that talks about 15 things you need to do after launching a website. My goal is to have people sign up for my SEO and Google Ads management services. To find people who had just a new website designed, I would go to Twitter and search for the strings like “We just launched our new website” and I found a lot of people wanted to tweet about their new website. I would then respond to them saying congratulations and for them to ensure they are doing the 15 things with their website after launch. organic search

organic search

For me, growing blog traffic is all about organic search. So, the best possible thing you can do is to work on your SEO strategy. The foundation of which should be to develop an SEO mindset, or philosophy, that is focused on delivering value and giving Google what they truly want – the best answers to a given question (more on that here: ).

The strategy piece is just so important. If you just write it, they will not come. You have to look at the questions you want to answer, review what is out there and do something better. If you just churn out articles that are just like what is already out there then you will get nowhere.

Finally, once you create this best of class content, you need to promote it, which in SEO parlance really means building some links. But, again, this is much easier if you have the very best resource out there.

Figure out your SEO strategy.

build internal links

build internal links

While it’s not really a growth hacking tip, it’s an often overlooked aspect of SEO by many bloggers. And that is internal linking. Building internal links can help you strengthen the authority of your pages and also help Google crawl your content much faster. I’ve noticed significant jumps in ranking when I would properly build internal links.
You should have at least 2-3 internal links per article. But do make sure your internal links are relevant to the content. One of the big reasons why bloggers don’t spend time in internal linking is that it’s manual work and takes time. Especially, if your blog has over 100 posts, you will have a hard time building internal links manually. To solve that issue, I would recommend the Link Whisper WordPress plugin that will automate the internal linking process for your websites. I currently use it on all my websites and build internal links much faster.
Implement this one simple growth hack and you’ll notice a change in your rankings.

During this competitive era if you want to growth hack visitors to your website, then you must invest your time and money in SEO.

When I say SEO, I don’t mean following the same age-old techniques that everyone else is following. Rather, thinking out of the box and experimenting with new strategies to stay ahead of the rest.

Remember, SEO was never a set of techniques that you can follow to rank quickly. Rather it’s a mind game that you have to play with Google to outsmart it and make Google feel there is no better contender for the top spot on Google SERP than you.

The best growth hacking strategy, you can use is the PPC model.

I want to relate this with an incident. In the year 2017, our blog iGeeksBlog.com was at its peak, and we fail to be consistent. Today, if I had the opportunity, I would teach PPC to my younger self. That means; P – Passion, P – Patience, C – Consistency

We keep searching for various growth hacks and want to scale our business quickly but failed to have patience with consistency. split testing

split testing

As Sean Ellis said, a growth hacker is “a person whose true north is growth”, growth hacking is nothing but a concept that augments business growth in the most potent and rapid manner.

Now, why does a start-up, or any company per se, needs to hack growth? Well, partly due to their failure to sustain and grow at their nascent stages. By employing a meticulous growth hack strategy, a business or a brand can indeed drive exponential growth. Just like Dropbox accelerated a major boost in its revenue by just offering an extra 250MBof storage space to its users. All they had to do was invite their friends. As simple as it may sound, this subtle marketing offer drove nearly $10 billion ROI for Dropbox as well as spiked their retention rates.

What I personally consider a major growth hack tip for a business of any scale is to do A/B testing for anything they do. Whether it is a landing page, a social media post, or even newsletters they send. For any kind of content, promotional or branding-related, ensure to create a second variation and monitor both the actual and the variant’s performance. A/B testing or split testing is actually quite vital for a robust growth hack strategy as it takes all the minor elements of positive customer engagement.

Once you collate all the vectors, you can then assess them to make the required tweaks in your overall marketing strategy. Simply put, A/B testing helps you pin down what works optimally for your business and what doesn’t. Once you figure this out, you can grow your business within less time and with fewer worries.

SEO is the best growth hack because it’s a proven strategy that will grow your blog and has long-term effects. It takes time and effort, but with SEO, you can see results over time with higher Google rankings and targeted traffic.

Search engine optimisation is a must-use strategy for bloggers who want their blogs to be found on search engines. It’s not just about ranking higher in search engine results pages, but also about getting more traffic from people who are genuinely interested in what you have to say.

make a lot of noise

make a lot of noise

Making noise. This is what successful people do in any niche. They roar loudly. And that’s exactly what you must do, very consistently, in order to succeed online. The one who puts out valuable content more often and consistently is the one who ends up achieving all of their goals.

Whether it is through writing, video, images, or any form of content you can share, the more you share with the world, in the right way, the more you will accomplish.

If you pay attention, the people who get the most views, and the most engagement, are the people who share content on a daily basis no matter what. There is no self-doubt, they just do it. And people start to follow and actually listen to what is recommended.

Be smart about making noise online. That would be my last word on this matter. Keep pushing and things will happen. Tiny steps!

funnel

funnel

Every piece of content that you write has to have an objective. I have 3 core objectives and these are engaging your readers, capturing their details or, marketing and selling to them.

Now your content creation strategy should be centered around how you will be able to achieve these objectives.

In order to achieve these I recommend writing 3 different types of articles as part of your content marketing strategy. These are – SILO Content, Branched Content and Money Content.

Create SILO pages on broad topics and branch it out by linking to articles that get into more detailed information on specific topics. Then link out these articles to money pages which can help you generate income. This forms a multi-pronged approach and pulls your visitors into your different funnels without having to create each one of them.

The first one is the natural progression from reading articles, finding value, further reading and eventually clicking over to the money content and buying.

The second one is by way of an email campaign which would indirectly be promoting the money pages which in turn will make money.

Here is how this works. Your SILO pages and Branched content are what will bring in visitors who will read them for the value they offer. This will pull them further in to your funnel and they start browsing other articles and click over to the money content. Examples of these money content are reviews, comparison, recommendations etc. Since your readers are already primed, the conversions can be good.

Secondly, You will use content upgrades in your branched content which hooks them and they subscribe to your email list where you will continue the engagement through emails.

As part of the email campaign you will link out to your money content. Since your audience is already engaged and the money content is subtly being pushed as part of an email series the conversions can be pretty good.

What is important to note is that too much or, too less of any of these content types will impact your overall strategy. But you always have the flexibility to adjust this strategy according to your resource availability.

Also the key to the success of this strategy is in how well you are able to link all these 3 types of content.

comfort zone

comfort zone

As anyone who has ever tried to improve themselves can attest, it is not always easy to make changes in your life. It can be difficult to break out of old habits, and it can be even harder to face new challenges. However, if you want to improve as an individual, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone and face challenges head-on.

Only by pushing yourself to try new things and overcome obstacles will you be able to reach your full potential. So next time you’re feeling stuck in a rut, remember that growth hacking tip – comfort zones are for losers! – and take a leap forward into the unknown. With a little effort, you might just surprise yourself at what you’re capable of.

Final Thoughts:

Blogging can be satisfying on many levels. It feels good to organize your thoughts into riding. It feels powerful to have a platform to share your ideas and inspiration. It’s thrilling when others recognize your contribution to the industry and your words start to spread beyond your initial audience.

Growing your blog and your brand can take time and the process certainly takes effort. You’ll need to plan, develop a timetable, and establish strong routines to market yourself and your message first in your niche and then in progressively wider circles.

Growing your audience is a task not suited for the faint of heart. To hack the growth of your readers, you’ll need to dig in and use any number of strategies. The harder you work, often the more you discover about your potential readers, and the more potential readers discover you.

You want a powerful platform. But a powerful platform requires a strong message, and that strong message finds its strength in the opinions and enthusiasm of your audience.

If you’re working to grow your presence online, marketing your blog is no different than marketing any other brand or service. Your blog may have started as a passion or curiosity project. But when you’re ready to share it with the world, you’ll need to point that energy in an entirely different direction.
