Time is money.
Whether it’s your time or someone else’s, each hour is valuable.
Spending those hours in the most productive way possible isn’t just lucrative.
It’s common sense.
And what better way to maximize your productivity than by repurposing the material that takes so much time to create?
Your content.
Think of how much time goes into creating every article you post on your website. Those detailed articles become your evergreen content – they’re good for all seasons over time. It’s a shame for those powerful pieces of information and advice to fade into the recesses of an archive when they are still so very valuable. That’s where repurposing comes in. You simply use that same content in dozens of different ways.
1. Create an eBook
If you’ve created a steady collection of articles, especially those that would include advice or instructions on things that others may benefit from, it may be worthwhile to compile all of those article and posts into an eBook. You can then use the eBook as a marketing item or sell it as a new income stream.
2. Use it in a Podcast
A good article can be expanded into a Podcast. Discuss the material in the article as a companion to the reading. Let site visitors read your article or listen to you describe and expand on the main points with additional details that may not be included in the original version.
3. Syndicate the Content
Let other blogs and websites pick up your items and use them. This is an excellent way to gather new followers and expand your reach into new markets without you doing much more than making good materials available.
4. Build an Infographic
If the evergreen material contains statistics and interesting tidbits that can be better represented pictorially, consider turning that article into an infographic. Images are popular and can then be used in many different places including through social media accounts.
5. Reword as a Guest Post
If you want to make a new article from an old one, simply rework the content, perhaps leaving just the barebones of the most interesting material and then distribute it as a guest post. By leaving just the sketch of the original article in the guest post, you may be able to entice readers back to your own website where they can get more information and details on the original post you created.
6. Repackage Multiple Articles
A series of short articles can easily become a longer article or a short report or ebook. The daily posts you made will turn into a more comprehensive work, especially if you add additional commentary at the end of the post.
7. Create a Course
Information-based articles or instructions in articles easily translate into coursework. There are many places online to create and distribute classes and courses. Your posts and article may be all you need to create a meaningful course others can benefit from.
8. Make a Presentation on SlideShare
Create a presentation on a website like SlideShare and then others can benefit from your work and you can benefit from the increased reach and marketing.
9. Use It as Resume Material
Social media site LinkedIn has expanded its resume options to include portfolio pieces. A great article that you’ve written on your site or blog should be used as part of your online portfolio to enhance your resume.
Your article was on your blog or website, and many visitors saw it there, but you can reach many more potential readers by borrowing material from the post and using it on an emailed newsletter. If it was popular on your site, it should be popular in inboxes as well.
11. Provide an Update
A popular post from a few months or even years ago can be dusted off easily. Simply add an update to the article and include just a bit of new information to enhance the original material. You can also do this by addressing comments that appeared on the original article as well.
12. Personalize the Article
If you wrote an article but didn’t include your personal observations and experiences, it’s pretty simple to go back in and add those details after the fact.
Pinterest is a great, often under-used, social media platform that can be great for getting your material a new audience. Look for interesting images in your post, Pin it to Pinterest and be sure to use lots of good keywords to really get the message out there.
14. Tweet Statistics and Quotes
Statistics and interesting quotes and lines from your post can be used as tweets on Twitter. Grab some interesting tidbits, tweet them, include links where needed and build followers, readers and interest.
15. Post it on Facebook
Facebook pages can be a bit dry at times for businesses. Sometimes there just isn’t much to say from a business perspective. You can easily solve this problem by posting your articles from your blogs. Take snippets to post or put the whole post out there for a new audience. Either way, you’ll have the potential to go viral.
16. Create a Quora Post
Quora is full of interesting questions and in-depth responses. Look for questions that relate to your blog or website. Then use sections of your posts to answer questions on Quora, with some well-placed links back to your own materials, of course.
17. Create an Instructional Video
You created the how-to article, so why not create the how-to video to go with it? Create the simple video showing how to follow the steps in your own instructions, post the video and include the how-to steps and you have a new, even more informative, piece of content.
18. Post on Google+
Google+ is another great place to post entire articles or sections of articles to boost readership and find new markets. While Google may not be as popular as Facebook for contacts and connections, it’s still very popular and can be useful as well.
19. Work a Webinar
If you have a lot to say on a particular topic, why not host a webinar? You can start by posting the article materials, reference them in your discussion and then answer questions and add additional details as requested by interested audience members.

20. Create Printed Marketing Materials
Don’t underestimate the value of printed marketing materials, especially if you work in a local market. Grab that article you posted online and print it out on flyers or have it posted in a local magazine where residents in your area are likely to read it and find the information useful.
21. Make a Guide
A series of short how-to posts can easily be expanded into a full-fledged guide. The how-to articles over different aspects of Microsoft, for example, can become a more fully developed guide to using Microsoft at home.
22. Begin a Case Study
If you uncovered some new information or there are still questions after your original article, why not by the guinea pig and try it out yourself? You use the original content as your jumping off place and then add new posts and regular updates on how the case study is going – expanding that one good idea for as long as your cast study can stand it.
23. Answer Interview Questions
The good article can become even better answers to an interview. If you have someone requesting an interview, you don’t have to create all new material as answers. Simply grab the most interesting and relevant bits from your original content and repurpose them as answers to the interview questions to save you some time and effort.
24. Develop a White Paper
A good article can serve as a basis for a compelling white paper. If you did a bit of research, simply do a bit more and combine the new materials with the original to create an image-rich white paper containing statics, columns and reference material.
25. Print a Book
A large collection of posts can be used in many ways, but one of the most enduring may be a book. If you’ve created content that can be repurposed into a non-fiction book, consider arranging it into chapters and seeking out a publishers or printing it yourself through independent publishers. These may make excellent items to sell at trade fairs.
26. Create Brochures
Speaking of trade fairs and other marketing opportunities, the material you used in your most popular and meaningful posts can be used again in brochures for your company or service. This is especially true for statistics, graphics and solutions to comment concerns or problems. You know the answers, let them sell things for you.
27. Make a Blog Series
The one giant article on your website can be used again multiple times over. Simply break it into different sections – using subheadings may make this even easier than you’d imagine – and post the shorter sections as blog posts in their own right. You can score several good, meaningful posts without having to write anything new at all.
28. Design Conference Materials
Handouts, posters, presentations are all important at a conference. It’s important to have information to share to engage potential clients or networking peers. Your content can be used in all of these materials. Simply select the best material to demonstrate what you do and what you’re about and fit that information into flyers, printables and presentations.
29. Create a Follow-Up Series
The excellent information you had for the first article is still good. If you posted something about your own experiences and skills you’ve used or acquired, why not create a follow-up series? The follow-up would simply expand on the original idea to give readers, especially those who remembered the original article, something new to think about.
30. Re-Publish Old Blog Posts
If your blog is popular now, but wasn’t quite as popular when you first started out, why not simply recycle the old blog posts by posting them again? This is as simple as changing the publish date on your oldest blogs so that they show up again in your blog feed. Just be sure that your link stays the same when you do this so that you don’t have to wait for Google to reindex the page
31. Use the Sky-Scraper Technique
The short post you used can easily be expanded into a more comprehensive post by adding information to the bottom of the article, taking it from the short original post into a taller, more informative post that is more valuable to your own site and readers as well.
32. Create Micro Content
Twitter is just one place where micro content thrives. Create images of micro content and use it on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest as well as posting the original micro tweets to the the original Twitter. Amusing stories, interesting facts and attention-getting statistics and the like all make for interesting micro content to be used on just about any type of social media.
Clean up some of your older posts and include links to the material that influenced you to write or rewrite the post. When you link to the websites of those who influenced you, you can reach out to those individuals and most will link back to you though social media at the very least, increasing the reach of the original material and your own blog or article as well.
The bottom line is this. Your ideas, research, data and words are valuable things. Don’t write them, post them, and then banish them as a has-been.

This post is pretty awesome and gave me lots of new ideas to re-create my contents. I am grateful to learn such methods. I loved it so I tweeted it but still I think it would be better if this article was a little bit more detail. For example: at the 3rd point I wanted a list of Content Syndication tools which would help me more.
BTW Thanks for this awesome piece of content.
Best regards –

HI Uttoran
I just loved reading your articles. 😀
The best thing which I really like about your articles is, you covers each and every thing in your articles which makes your article more helpful.
I have seen people love to read those articles more which are easy to understand and can help a lot. And you always write such kind of articles.
I would also like to suggest you one thing.
You should try to keep your paragraphs short so that people can’t scare before reading that paragraphs.
Short and cute paragraphs increase interest of the reader to read the complete article.
I hope you wouldn’t mind my suggestion. 😀
Either way, Thanks for this wonderful article. 😀

Hey Donna,
Thank you for the comment,
Yeah, one does not needs to do them all – it will be brilliant if one can do it all, but time won’t permit! However, there are some that one should do – for example, SlideShare, Infographics, updating the content and making it compatible with Quora, Pinterest etc.
The returns will surely be much more than the efforts you put it,
thanks,
Uttoran Sen
